CLEMSON, S.C. – For the first time in program history, the King University cycling program has won a cycling conference championship in the fall. On Sunday the Tornado were crowned Southeastern Collegiate Cycling Conference Division II Mountain Bike champions.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Tornado have accumulated points in races all season, and they had a lead that they held going into the SECCC Championships this weekend.
- Kaysee Armstrong took home a first place finish at the conference championships while Cory Rimmer came in third.
- Kyle Ellis helped the Tornado to the championship with a fifth place finish and Emily Cox rounded out the squad with a seventh place finish.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The SECCC Mountain Bike championship marks King's third cycling conference title, and their first in the mountain bike discipline.
- The other two SECCC championships came in the road discipline in 2013 and 2014.

- King will be in action again on October 23-25 at the USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships that will be held in Snowshoe, W.Va.
