GREENVILLE, S.C. - King College finished second in the 2009-10 NCCAA Division I President's Cup All Sports Award standings, the national office announced Tuesday.
The King athletic department was third after the winter season and eighth upon completion of the fall championships. King collected 62 points for the year while Indiana Wesleyan University had 69 to win the President's Cup for a third straight year. King was one point better than Bethel (Ind.) College. Malone (Ohio) University and Cedarville (Ohio) University were fourth and fifth, respectively.
King scored points in the spring championship season from softball, men's and women's track and field, men's and women's tennis and baseball. The best finish in the spring came from the women's track and field team that was third at the championship event. Overall King had six Top-5 finishes at NCCAA National Championships during the 2009-10 year which included the men's basketball team and women's indoor track and field teams finishing second. King saw 13 teams score points towards the President's Cup standings this season which was the most of any NCCAA Division I program.
