GREENVILLE, S.C. - The King College men's tennis team was honored by the NCCAA as a 2010 Scholar-Team, as announced by the national office.
King was one of just two NCCAA squads representing men's tennis on the scholar team roll as Cedarville (Ohio) University was the other. In order to be a NCCAA Scholar Team, a team must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.40 for the current academic year for everyone on the varsity roster. In all, 19 spring sport teams were honored as scholar teams.
The Tornado, under the direction of Chris Bartlett, went 11-6 this season to earn a trip to the NCCAA national event in May.
King also had two players named NCCAA Scholar-Athletes as Oriol Mirallas (Barcelona, Spain) and Nick Smith (Kingsport, Tenn.) were honored at the national championship.
