NCCAA Scholar-Athlete nods for six King women's track and field athletes

GREENVILLE, S.C. - King College placed six athletes on the 2010 NCCAA Women's Track & Field Scholar-Athlete team, the national organization announced.

Seniors Amanda Davis (Purlear, N.C.), Brittany Simmons (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Anna Waldbart (Hendersonville, N.C.) along with juniors Kaci Foster (Staunton, Va.) and Carrie Nelson (Independence, Va.) and sophomore Danielle Alfano (Chattanooga, Tenn.) made up the King portion of the team.

Davis was the 400-meter dash champion and was second in the 200 to become a two-time All-American at the event. Simmons also garnered All-American status in the 400 hurdles. Simmons and Davis were a part of the Lady Tornado 400-relay team that won the national crown. Waldbart also was an All-American in the javelin.

In all 46 student-athletes were honored by the NCCAA as scholar-athletes in women's track and field.

King finished third at the NCCAA Women's Outdoor Track & Field National Championship that was contested in May.
