Dan Kreiss brings a wealth of coaching experience having coached a variety of sports over more than 20 years including cricket, softball, rugby, and basketball.  He enters his fifth year as the head coach for Tornado Cycling.

In 2012-13, Kreiss guided the King cycling to new heights as they won their first ever Southeast Collegiate Cycling Conference (SECCC) championship. The Tornado also made their second consecutive appearance in the Collegiate Cycling National Championships in Ogden, Utah. However, the Tornado came home with an eighth place finish after having some bad luck as a couple of riders got caught up in accidents that ended their weekend's.

Tornado Cycling came out of its shell and into the spotlight during the 2011-12 season as Kreiss led his team to the Collegiate Cycling National Championships for the first time in the program’s young history. The Tornado rode strong in all three events, held in Ogden, Utah, and finished with a fifth place podium placing in the Team Omnium.

The 2011-12 season was overall a successful campaign as the Tornado finished second overall in the (SECCC) by a mere six points. At the conference championships Kreiss watched three of his riders earn medals in their respective divisions, including Conference Champion Stephanie Cucaz who won the gold medal in the women’s ‘A’ division. Casey Stallard won the silver in the men’s ‘B’ class and Blake Adams, with his team-leading eight race wins, won the gold medal in the men’s ‘C’ category.

Prior to coming to King, he was head coach of the basketball program at Hutt International Boys' School in Wellington, New Zealand for 10 years. He took several teams to playoff and championship games before making the move to King to run the Youth Ministry program.

Kreiss was the head coach of the men’s junior varsity basketball team for one season and assistant coach for the Tornado basketball squad for three seasons before taking the head job with the cycling team in 2009. Kreiss aided the team toward a second place finish in the team’s first season of competition in 2010.

Kreiss graduated from Eastern University in 1988, with a BA in education, History and Youth Ministry and received his MEd. from Massey University (New Zealand) in Educational Guidance in 2000. He is a USAC certified coach and teaches in the youth ministry and physical education departments at King.
