Jerry Salyer started at King University in January 2008 as King’s first NCAA Compliance Officer, as the school began their transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II affiliation.
He manages all aspects of NCAA compliance for King's 19 NCAA teams including the development, implementation, and monitoring of all policies and procedures regarding compliance to NCAA rules and regulations.
More precisely, he works with the King admissions office, financial aid office and registrar’s office to ensure compliance with institutional, NCAA and conference regulations. He also monitors institutional and outside financial aid, and recruiting and playing/practice seasons. For the NCAA, Salyer repares squad lists and eligibility certifications and manages the NCAA initial-eligibility process. He also makes sure the completion and submission of the required NCAA reports, waivers and appeals as well as the coordination of NCAA rules education programs for administrators, coaches, support staff, student-athletes and booster groups and oversees compliance for the department’s summer camps and clinics.
Salyer have a background of over 30 years in business with a B.S. degree in Business from East Tennessee State University and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management from Tusculum College.
He currently resides in Kingsport with his wife Karen.
