Bill Linderman joined the math department at King College in 1999.  He spent a sabbatical year as a Visiting Professor at Cornell University in 2006-07 where he taught Calculus and Cryptology and studied piano performance and musical composition. He studied piano with Betty Kuhnert at King College for many years and has given several piano recitals at King.

Linderman has served as the Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) at King since 2004 and was part of a team that helped King transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II.  He chairs both the Faculty Athletic Committee and the Compliance Committee. One of his responsibilities is to help certify the eligibility of all King student-athletes.

Bill regularly attends the National Joint Meetings of the American Mathematical Society and the Mathematical Association of America and frequently gives a talk at this conference. Bill has attended short courses through the National Science Foundation in Mexico on Ancient Maya Mathematics (2004), in Peru on Ancient Inca Mathematics (2007), and in Cambodia on Ancient Khmer Mathematics (2010). He completed his dissertation in Graph Theory.

His love for travel has taken Linderman to all 50 states and over 40 foreign countries.  He participated in the College’s mission trips to India in 2001 and to Kenya in 2005. An avid runner, Linderman has completed over 15 marathons since joining the faculty at King.

Linderman’s undergraduate degree is from Erskine College. He earned an M.S. in math from Virginia Tech and a Ph.D. in math from the University of Memphis. His wife, the Reverend Elizabeth Patrick, does supply preaching at Presbyterian churches in the area and has taught several Bible courses at King. Bill and Elizabeth welcomed their first child, a boy, in October 2012.
