KISSIMMEE, Fla. - King College concluded the NCCAA Volleyball Championship with a 3-0 sweep Friday after a 3-2 setback earlier in the day.
The Lady Tornado, finished 2009 at 29-12 overall and the No. 5 seed, had a 2-2 record in pool play after sweeping No. 9 Southeastern (Fla.) University late Friday. The Lady Tornado won with scores of 25-15, 25-17 and 25-20 over Southeastern.
Bryan and No. 1 Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) University advanced to the Saturday's semifinals. Mount Vernon eventually reached the championship match, but lost to No. 2 Campbellsville (Ky.) University in straight sets.
Against Bryan, King dropped the opening set 25-22 and the Lady Tornado answered with back-to-back wins 25-21 and 25-14. Bryan forced the fifth set after winning the fourth 25-15 and the final set had a 17-15 score in favor of Bryan.
