LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - The King College women's soccer team was eliminated from the NCCAA Mid-East regional tournament after a 2-1 loss Friday in a semifinal contest against Campbellsville (Ky.) University Friday.
King's 2009 season record stands at 11-6-1. Campbellsville went to 12-7-2 and will play host Covenant (Ga.) College Saturday for the championship.
Campbellsville scored first when Laura Swencki broke away for a goal in the eighth minute. The Lady Tigers added an insurance goal in the 50th minute off a header from Katie Henderson. She was played the ball from a corner kick by Cassie Yannelli.
King's lone goal was a penalty-kick score by Pua Coffman (Knoxville, Tenn.) with four minutes left.
The Lady Tornado had to play with 10 players in the final eight minutes after Lauren Fritts (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) was ejected for rough play. She came out of the box and tripped a Lady Tiger which broke up a potential scoring chance for Campbellsville.
King will have to wait to see if an at-large bid for the NCCAA National Tournament will be sent.
