GREENVILLE, S.C. - King College's Stephanie Mueller made program history when she was the first player in program history to become a NCCAA Softball All-American, the first All-American for the Lady Tornado program. Shauna Haga was a member of the second team as well.
Mueller, a sophomore third baseman, led King with a .470 batting average this season. She hit a team-best seven home runs and 10 doubles in 38 games in 2010 which led to a slugging percentage at .739. Mueller (Mt. Washington, Ky.) scored 31 runs and drove in 40. She drew 21 walks and only struck out 11 times in 140 plate appearances with an on-base percentage at .564. Mueller also swiped two bases.
She became the first softball All-American in the six years King has sponsored softball.
Haga, a junior shortstop, posted a .382 batting average with 24 runs scored and a dozen RBIs in 31 games. She added seven doubles and hit one home run this season. Haga, from Blountville, Tenn., also had an on-base percentage at .414 and only had eight strikeouts in 116 trips to the plate as she hit in the lead-off spot in each game she played in. She posted an 11-game hitting streak earlier in the season and had 13 multi-hit games.
She was named to the 2010 NCCAA World Series All-Tournament team on Saturday as well.
Both Mueller and Haga were on the NCCAA Mid-East All-Region squad.
King finished the season in a tie for fifth at the NCCAA Softball World Series and compiled a 22-17 record this season.
