BRISTOL, Tenn. - King College will enter the 2010 NCCAA Division I Baseball World Series with the No. 8 seed and will play at 10 a.m. Wednesday against No. 9 seed Indiana Wesleyan University in Mason, Ohio.
The 10-team event will be a double-elimination tournament played at Prasco Park and Legacy Field in Mason, Ohio. The winner between King and Indiana Wesleyan, with a 27-37 overall record, advances to play top-seeded and defending national champion Bluefield (Va.) College at 7:30 p.m. The loser moves into a 10 a.m. contest Thursday against the loser between No. 4 Judson (Ill.) University and No. 5 Spring Arbor (Mich.) University.
"In our meetings at the beginning of the year we talked about our goals of going to the NCCAA World Series," said head coach Mac McClarrinon. "Now it's time to complete what we set out to do as we are excited to compete at the national level and represent King."
King ended the regular season ranked No. 6 in the NCCAA Burbridge Rating and then won the Mid-East Region Championship Saturday over Covenant (Ga.) College. The Tornado will take a 28-14 record into the series.
The rest of the first round games features No. 3 seed Malone (Ohio) University playing No. 6 seed Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University at 1 p.m. The other 10 a.m. game features No. 7 Southeastern (Fla.) University and No. 10 Colorado Christian College. The winner between Southeastern and Colorado Christian advances to play No. 2 North Greenville (S.C.) University later Wednesday.
