PALM BEACH, Fla. - King College held on for a 7-6 losers' bracket victory over Oakland City (Ky.) University Friday at the 2010 NCCAA Softball World Series, however the Lady Tornado were defeated 10-2 against Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University which brought the season to a close.
King, the event's No. 7 seed, saw 2010 end with a 22-17 record. The Lady Tornado were able to play into a tie for fifth at the national championship thanks to the victory over Oakland City earlier in the day.
The Lady Tornado opened up a 7-1 lead over Oakland City before five unanswered runs made things interesting.
Brittany Watson (Morristown, Tenn.) provided three RBIs on her double to center as she went 2-for-3 in the Oakland City contest. Emily Bennett (Erwin, Tenn.) was 3-for-4 while Christy Kooch (Knoxville, Tenn.) had a 2-for-4 effort in the opener Friday.
