MOBILE, Ala. - King College wrapped up play at the 2010 NCCAA Men's Tennis National Championship Wednesday with a nail-biting 5-4 loss to Campbellsville (Ky.) University.
The Tornado wrapped up 2010 with an 11-6 record and as the 11 wins are the most at King in the four years under head coach Chris Bartlett. The 5-4 decision was the third straight match decided by a point for King at the national event. Before the NCCAA event King had a 3-0 record in 5-4 matches this season with victories over Concord (W.Va.) University, North Greenville (S.C.) University and Carson-Newman (Tenn.) College.
After doubles' play King had a 2-1 advantage, but Campbellsville won the first three singles' points. The Tornado rallied to tie things at 4-4. Seth Hale (Knoxville, Tenn.) played in the last match as it went three sets.
Campbellsville won Pool A with a 3-0 record while Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University came in second with a 2-1 mark. Spring Arbor (Mich.) University was 1-2 while King was 0-3.
