All-American performances for King in Friday's action at NCCAA Nationals

UPLAND, Ind. - King College advanced numerous athletes into Saturday's finals at the NCCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship hosted by Taylor (Ind.) University. In addition, three performances garnered All-American honors.

After the first eight events were scored, the Tornado have 22.5 points which has the team in fifth. Malone (Ohio) University jumped out to the lead with 76.5 points. The Lady Tornado stand in seventh with 13 points and Malone has the advantage with 89 points.

Callie Todt (Bristol, Tenn.) wrapped up the women's heptathlon and earned All-American status thanks to her third-place finish. The freshman totaled 2,883 points in the seven events.

Derek Nave (Elizabethton, Tenn.) led the hammer throw after the prelims, but he ended up second in the finals. His best throw went 165 feet and one inch to garner All-American honors.

Anna Waldbart (Hendersonville, N.C.) tossed the javelin 116 feet and 10 inches to finish third in the event which made her an All-American.

Amanda Davis (Purlear, N.C.) ran to the front of the field in the 200-meter dash as she has the fastest qualifying time with a 24.76 second run. She also posted the second fastest time in the 400 which was 57.25.

Lanneickia Brewton (Inman, S.C.) qualified for the women's 100 finals thanks to her run of 12.32 seconds. She also had the fourth fastest 200 time with a 25.48 performance. Jill Hooker (Piney Flats, Tenn.) also qualified for the 100 finals after posting a time of 12.58. She was just a 0.1 second out of the 200 finals after a time of 25.91.

Richard Ibeh (George Town, Cayman Islands) used a time of 10.96 to move into the men's 100 finals. He also qualified for the 100 finals with a 22.27 time. Diverne Ingraham (Matthew Town, Great Inagua) was the sixth-fastest qualifier with a run in the 100 of 11.09.

Shavar Watson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Ryan Williamson (Seymour, Tenn.) both qualified for the 400 finals. Watson ran the lap in 49.34 while Williamson finished at the 50.06 mark.

Brittany Simmons (Knoxville, Tenn.) had the second best time in the 400-hurdles with one minute and 5.14 seconds.

The Lady Tornado 400-relay team lowered the school record to 48.28 seconds as the quartet had the fastest qualifying time. King also ran to the front of the 1,600 relay field with a qualifying time of 4:01.41. The Tornado 400-relay squad completed the event in 42.21 seconds and the 1,600 team had the fastest performance at 3:22.61.

Quarderius Clark (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and Logan Kemp (Kingsport, Tenn.) were just outside the Top-3 in the high jump as Clark was fourth after he cleared six feet and 4 3/4 inches to break the King record. Kemp had a six foot and 2 3/4 jump to finish in a tie for fifth.  Clark added a triple jump of 44 feet and a half inch to finish sixth.

Naseem Haje (Hagerstown, Md.) needed 33:00.23 to run the 10,000 meters and finish sixth.

Saturday's action starts at 12:30 p.m. and concludes with the 1,600 relay finals as the women run at 4:35 and the men start at 4:45. The awards ceremony will follow after the conclusion of the event.
