UPLAND, Ind. - King College's Callie Todt opened the 2010 NCCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Thursday with the first four events of the heptathlon.
Todt (Bristol, Tenn.) had third-place finishes in all four events. She scored 411 points thanks to her run of 18.78 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles. Her high jump of four feet and two inches got her 379 points. She threw the shot put 29 feet and 5.5 inches for another 463 points. In the 200, she finished at the 28.83 mark for 567 more points.
She finished the day with 1,820 points. Malone (Ohio) University's Beth Costello scored 2,419 points while her teammate Lori Ickes had 2,399 points.
Friday starts with the conclusion of the heptathlon as the athletes will compete in the long jump, javelin and 800. At 2:30 p.m., the rest of the NCCAA Outdoor Track & Field Nationals starts with the women's 400 relay prelims.
