Bamberger finishes atop standings, overtaken in playoff

BEAVERCREEK, Ohio - King College's Josh Bamberger played onto the Cedarville University Invitational All-Tournament team as he was tied for first, but he lost medalist honors on the seventh playoff hole.

Bamberger (Waterloo, Canada) posted a 75 in the final round Tuesday. Mike Kasperski, from Indiana Tech, was the medalist after winning in the playoff. The two tied with two-round totals of 147.

Richard Powell (Hixson, Tenn.) carded an 82 while Brad Weaver (Orange, Va.) and Matt Love (Johnson City, Tenn.) had matching rounds of 85.

King went to fifth in the team standings with a two-day score of 638 after the Tornado posted a 323 Tuesday. King finished four shots behind Northwestern (Ohio).

The University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) won the event thanks to a two-day total of 608, nine shots better than Cedarville.

This event wrapped up the 2009-10 season for the Tornado golf squad.
