King cycling collects strong finishes at Furman

GREENVILLE, S.C. - King College rode toward the front in a weekend of racing at Furman (S.C.) University over the weekend.

In the team time trial, King finished fifth, beating Brevard (N.C.) College and Cumberland (Tenn.) University.

In the women's "B" road race, Ellie Ferguson (Knoxville, Tenn.) was second while Caroline Gentry (Bristol, Tenn.) was third.

Gentry added a third-place ride in Sunday's criterium. Ferguson was fifth and Michelle Donihe (Chattanooga, Tenn.) finished sixth in her first race of the season.

In the men's "C" road race standings, Brent Baker (Kingsport, Tenn.) finished 15th and Brad Hughes (Gray, Tenn.) was right behind him in 17th.

Zach Nave (Gray, Tenn.) posted a 26th-place ride in the "A" road race.

King's next scheduled weekend of racing will be April 10-11 at the University of Alabama Huntsville.
