SAVANNAH, Ga. - King College finished the opening round of the 2010 Savannah College of Art & Design Spring Invitational in 14th place Monday.
Manda Minor (Bluff City, Tenn.) led King with a 93 and Karissa King (Rockwood, Tenn.) followed with a 95. Heather Payne (Maryville, Tenn.) and Chelsea Gammon (Blountville, Tenn.) carded rounds of 101 and 102, respectively.
King's score of 391 was 29 shots behind Lee (Tenn.) University.
USC-Beaufort owns the 18-hole lead with a team score of 317. Host Savannah College of Art & Design was a shot back with Berry (Ga.) College was five shots out of first.
The individual leader came from SCAD, as Nikki Stewart carded a 74, three-over-par. Berry's Callie Bennett was next with a 76 and four players had similar scores of 77.
The two-day event concludes with a shotgun start Tuesday morning at the Par-71, 5,809-yard course.
