BRISTOL, Tenn. - King College signed Richlands High School's Evan Ferrell to be a part of the women's cross country program.
She has a 5,000-meter time of 20 minutes and 12 seconds on the cross country trail. Ferrell also has a personal record of 3:17 in the 1,000 meters. She qualified for the 2010 Virginia Indoor State Championship in the 1,000 with a fourth-place performance in the regional meet.
Ferrell was a multi-sport athlete at Richlands. She played softball and basketball along with running track and cross country. Ferrell has seen success in every sport at Richlands with nods as All-Southwest Virginia and All-Region in softball and basketball.
"Evan is a very talented young lady and I know that once she is in the Lady Tornado system she will flourish," commented King head coach Peter Dalton. "Her ability and work ethic is a strong combination that is sure to succeed."
The King women's cross country team had a fifth-place finish at the 2009 NCCAA National Championship in October while the Lady Tornado indoor track and field team was second at the NCCAA Nationals held in February.
