King in 13th with a Tornado 13th after opening round

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - King College opened the 21st Eagle Invitational Saturday in 13th spot with a Tornado in 13th in the individual standings after the opening round at the Pelican Bay Golf Club in Daytona Beach, Fla.

The Tornado posted a 316 after 18 holes which leaves the team just eight shots out of a tie for sixth in the highly competitive event. Southeastern (Fla.) University fired a 296 to take the team lead, a shot better than Brevard (Fla.) Community College.

Josh Bamberger (Waterloo, Canada) used a 75 to move into a tie for 13th in the individual standings. Brad Weaver (Orange, Va.) and Nick Carden (Hixson, Tenn.) both carded rounds of 80. Richard Powell (Hixson, Tenn.) followed with an 81.

Brevard's Frank Berznanskis was the only player to break par in the round with his 71.

The course played as a Par-72 over 6,764 yards.

Sunday's final round will start at 8 a.m.
