WINONA LAKE, Ind. - King College, the No. 5 seed, was defeated 72-53 by Bethel (Ind.) College, the No. 4 seed, in a NCCAA Division I Women's Basketball National Tournament quarterfinal contest Thursday.
King, now at 17-12, will face the loser between top-seeded Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) University and No. 8 seed Grace (Ind.) College Friday at 3 p.m.
The Lady Tornado was led by Derika Mooney (Athens, Tenn.) with 18 points and nine rebounds. Ashley Deans (Greeneville, Tenn.) chipped in 14 points.
Turnovers hurt King as the squad committed 25 which led to 28 Bethel points.
King held the rebounding advantage 46-33.
Bekah Basinger led all scorers with 20 points. Heather Seyfred poured in 15 while Jordan Robbins and Mandy Yoder scored 12 and 11, respectively.
The first two games of the day produced upsets as Ecclesia College, No. 7 seed, defeated No. 2 seed Emmanuel (Ga.) College 41-39. Sixth-seeded North Greenville (S.C.) University had a 64-51 victory against third-seeded Bluefield (Va.) College.
