ROME, Ga. - King College moved up to 13th Tuesday in the final round of the Rome News-Tribune Invitational played at the Stonebridge Golf Club.
The Tornado improved two spots in the team standings from Monday's first 18 holes. King posted a team score of 311 after a 310 Monday.
Tyler Welch (Whitehouse, Tenn.) improved eight shots with his final-round 76. Richard Powell (Hixson, Tenn.) and Josh Bamberger (Waterloo, Canada) both carded rounds of 78. Nick Carden (Hixson, Tenn.) added a 79.
John A. Logan (Ill.) Community held on for the team title. John A. Logan was five shots better than Shorter (Ga.) College, 574 to 579. John A. Logan posted a 288 Tuesday. Lee (Tenn.) University had the low round of the day at 285.
John A. Logan had the top two finishers as Marcelo Rozo won with a two-day score of seven-under-par, 137. Filip Timmerman followed a shot behind at 138.
The course played at 6,688 yards as a Par-72.
King will travel to the Eagle Invitational, hosted by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical (Fla.) University. The two-day event starts Monday at the Pelican Bay Golf Club.
