BRISTOL, Tenn. - King College recently announced the signing of Dobyns-Bennett High School's Kendra Sokol to be a part of the Lady Tornado cross country program starting with the fall season.

Sokol claimed sixth place at the 2009 TSSAA State Cross Country Championships. She has a personal best of 19 minutes and one second over 5,000 meters. Along with her All-State performance last year, she has numerous all-state, all-region and all-conference honors. As a member of the Lady Indians' track team, she has a time of 11:35 for two miles and ran the mile in 5:25.

"Kendra's talent is endless. Her will to win and proven leadership skills at a high level are evident." commented King head cross country coach Peter Dalton. "Her dedication to her teammates is also another characteristic Kendra possesses and it's admirable."

Sokol plans to major in nursing and missions while at King.

The King women's cross country team had a fifth-place finish at the 2009 NCCAA National Championship in October while the Lady Tornado indoor track and field team was second at the NCCAA Nationals held in February.
