BRISTOL, Tenn. - King College recently added Morristown West High School standout Spencer Frantom, the runner up from the 2009 TSSAA State AAA Cross Country Championship, to the Tornado's squad.

Frantom ran Raymond Farmer at Morristown West and Frantom was an all-conference and all-region cross country performer all four years. He added all-state honors in 2008 and 2009. His personal best on the cross country course was 15 minutes and 31 seconds over a 5,000-meter layout.

"Spencer's addition to the King distance squad will ensure that we enter NCAA Division II on a national level immediately," commented King head cross country coach Peter Dalton. "Spencer is a student of his sport and recognized the exciting things going on here at King. He's a great athlete and a great person and I'm looking forward to seeing him succeed in all areas of college life."

When it came to running with the Morristown West track team, he ran two miles 9:35.

The Tornado cross country team finished fourth at the 2009 NCCAA Division I Cross Country National Championship and the indoor track and field team just finished seventh at the NCCAA Nationals held earlier in February.
