Three’s company, King defeats Virginia Intermont 111-68

BRISTOL, Tenn. - The three pointers were falling for King College Saturday as the Tornado made a school record 19 in a 111-68 win over cross-town rival Virginia Intermont College.

Of the 19 threes, Elisha Murray (Ft. Myers, Fla.) hit six as he ended the contest with a game-high 22 points. King hit 10 of the three pointers in the first half and added nine more in the final 20 minutes. Eight different players had at least one basket from behind the arc.

The Tornado went over the century mark for the fourth time this season and the output was two off the 113 points scored at Emory & Henry (Va.) College.

The win was the eighth straight over Virginia Intermont as King improved to 15-4 on the season. Virginia Intermont slipped to 1-23.

Mark Dockery (Nickelsville, Va.) and Stephen Kite (Atlanta, Ga.) both had 16 points with 15 from Jason Seymore (Powell, Tenn.). Craig McCargo (South Boston, Va.) added 11 points.

King took a 61-32 lead into the locker room at halftime and the 61 points was one off the season high in a half. The Tornado had 62 at Carson-Newman (Tenn.) College on Dec. 12.

Wade Bryant and Marquette Knight had 19 points apiece.

The Tornado hosts Pikeville (Ky.) College Monday. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. as King looks to sweep the season series. The first game played on Dec. 2 was won by King, 76-67, and it was Pikeville's first loss of the season.
