Raby's 27 leads King past VIC

BRISTOL, Tenn. - King College's Beth Raby led all scorers with 27 points in the Lady Tornado's 65-51 victory Saturday against Virginia Intermont College.

Raby, a senior from Farragut, Tenn., scored 21 in the first half and was two points from her career-high. She went 9-for-15 from the field including four of King's seven 3-pointers. She also went 5-for-6 at the free-throw line.

The victory improved King to 12-10 on the season and it was the seventh straight win over the Lady Cobras. Virginia Intermont went to 2-22 after the game.

Allison Bosse (Farragut, Tenn.) added 13 points for the victors. Brooke Johnson (Roan Mountain, Tenn.) collected a team high seven rebounds for King.

Morghan Arnold paced the Lady Cobras with 17 with 11 points from Heather Odle. Ca'Star Harper grabbed 13 rebounds.

Virginia Intermont made more baskets, 22-19, but King had five more three pointers, 7-2, and more visits to the free-throw line. The Lady Tornado was 20-for-29 (69.0 percent) at the line with Virginia Intermont going 5-for-11 (45.5 percent).

Both teams grabbed 39 rebounds, but King had 17 offensive. King forced 25 turnovers and converted that into 21 points.

King looks to continue the winning ways with a 6:30 p.m. contest Tuesday against North Greenville (S.C.) University. The Lady Tornado defeated North Greenville 72-56 on Jan. 12.
