The King College men's volleyball team fell to the Limestone Saints in a close, 5 set match on Wednesday evening.  The contest was the Saints' home opener, and was both teams' first conference match of the year.  The visiting Tornado had opportunities to win the match, but came up short on the evening, falling 3-2 (29-31, 30-27, 30-24, 33-35, 16-18).

King let a late game lead slip away in game one, falling 29-31, before winning the next two sets 30-27, 30-24.  Limestone jumped out to a quick lead in the forth set, but King battled back and pulled even late in the set.  The two teams exchanged the lead, with both sides having several set points before the Saints were able to close out the game 33-35.  In the fifth and deciding set the Tornado built an early lead, holding an 8-5 advantage at the side change.  But the Saints fought back to claim a late lead before holding on for an eventual 18-16 victory.Sophomore James Friddle (Atlanta, Ga.) lead the Tornado offense, notching 19 kills in the match.  Ariel Apolinario (Miami, Fla.) and Mike Koebel (Richmond, Va.) had 11 and 10 kills respectively.  Freshman Jeff Bosslet (St. Louis, Mo.) ran the offense for the squad. Apolinario has 7 blocks and 5 digs in the contest.

The loss dropped King to 0-2 for the season, and 0-1 in Conference Carolinas play.  Limestone improved to 2-2, 1-0 for the season.  The Tornado are back in action next Friday as they travel to Pfeiffer to play in the Lucky Dog Tournament.
