Turner, Machen named to ICAA Volleyball team

BILLINGS, Mont. - King College had two women's volleyball players selected to the NCAA Division II Independents Collegiate Athletic Association first team, the organization announced Tuesday.

Whitney Turner (Jonesborough, Tenn.) made the squad a senior. Earlier she was a NCCAA Mid-East All Region first team selection. She was also a NCCAA scholar-athlete team member.

Morgan Machen (Kingsport, Tenn.) played her way onto the ICAA team. Machen was a NCCAA second team selection and was on the NCCAA scholar-athlete team. The junior outside hitter led the team in kills this season. She was also on the NCCAA Mid-East All Region team and a NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week selection earlier in 2009.

King finished the season at 29-12 after reaching the NCCAA National Tournament. The Lady Tornado was runner up in the Mid-East Regional Tournament as well.
