GREENVILLE S.C. - A pair of King College cross country runners were a part of the NCCAA Division I All-American squad this season and three athletes were honored with Scholar-Athlete team nods.
On the women's side, Carrie Nelson (Independence, Va.) was eighth thanks to her school-record time of 18 minutes and 59 seconds over the 5,000 meter course. She was just nine seconds away from fourth. Nelson also made the grade to become a NCCAA Scholar-Athlete.
Nassem Haje (Hagerstown, Md.) also obtained All-American status thanks to his 15th-place run at the nationals.
Rebecca McDowell (Mechanicsville, Va.) and Joseph Pair (Franklin, Tenn.) were also NCCAA Scholar-Athletes.
King finished the season with a fourth place finish at the NCCAA National Championship by the Tornado while the Lady Tornado squad was fifth.
