GREENVILLE S.C. - King College had a member of the volleyball team recently named to the NCCAA Division I All-American team as second-team selection, the organization announced. In addition, six Lady Tornado players were NCCAA Scholar-Athletes.
Morgan Machen (Kingsport, Tenn.) played her way to the NCCAA second team and was on the scholar-athlete team. The junior outside hitter led the team in kills this season. She was also on the NCCAA Mid-East All Region team and a NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week selection earlier in 2009.
Whitney Turner (Jonesborough, Tenn.), Rachel Harding (Abingdon, Va.), Daria Wilson (Lebanon, Tenn.), Kaitlyn Musick (Weber City, Va.) and Amber Jones (Kingsport, Tenn.) were all named to the NCCAA Scholar-Athlete team. The six Lady Tornado on the scholar-athlete team was the most by any school this season.
The Mid-East All-Region team also had Turner on the first team while Harding and Fleming were second team selections.
King finished the season at 29-12 after reaching the NCCAA National Tournament. The Lady Tornado was runner up in the Mid-East Regional Tournament as well.
