King opened the Student Center Complex in January 2003 as it is the home for the men's and women's basketball, men's and women's volleyball and men's and women's wrestling home contests.
The facility has hosted the Appalachian Athletic Conference men's and women's basketball tournaments as well as the Appalachian Athletic Conference volleyball tournaments and a NAIA Volleyball National Tournament contest. The Student Center has been home to various high school tournaments and King has hosted NCCAA Mid-East Region tournament events in men's and women's basketball and women's volleyball.
A major donation in 2000 started the process for the 67,000 square-foot center. The project was undertaken by JA Street and Associates of Kingsport, Tenn., with the architectural work being completed by Ken Ross and Associates of Johnson City, Tenn. JA Street and Associates are no strangers to King as the company completed all of the college's west campus with Hyde Hall, tennis courts, soccer field, pond and elaborate entrance ways and sidewalks to connect the two campuses.
The Student Center Complex features attractive neo-Georgian architecture. Also included in the building are conecssion stand, offices, locker rooms, weight room, lounge cooridors, racketball court, hall of fame, board room, classroom, and athletic training offices.
