BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has named its Student-Athletes of the Month for September 2012. Hannah Witt of women’s cross country and Joshua Feener of men’s soccer were named to the honor, announced on Tuesday.
Witt, a native of Mountain City, Tenn., made splash on the 2012-13 cross country season at the Virginia Tech Invitational on
Sept. 14. After returning to the course from an injury, the senior clocked a 22:11.41 time on the 6k course in Blacksburg, Va. for a solid 13th place finish and was the first Division II runner to complete the course among some quality competition. Witt led the Lady Tornado across the finish line and helped the team to a fifth place finish out of nine teams comprised of some of the top Division I and II teams in the region.
Joshua Feener (Mt. Juliet, Tenn.) has been a source of stability for the King defense be it between the posts or in the backfield for the men’s soccer team. He has two points off of a goal scored from his defensive position at Milligan College (Sept. 8). The junior captain was then asked to serve as a reserve goaltender following injuries to both King’s keepers. In three games played between the sticks, Feener has made nine saves on 40 shots faced over 225 minutes of play.
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee meets once a month and selects one male and one female student-athlete that best represents Tornado Athletics on and off of the field. At the turn of each month, a new set of Student-Athletes of the Month will be selected.
